UNDERSTANDING THE DYNAMICS OF RGM / ZANU-PF POLITICS: A PREAMBLE!!
It is terribly important any-one that seeks to reconcile the polarized Nation of Zimbabwe must go out of his way to study the dynamics of ZANU-PF Politics.
A lot of energy is spent on simple journalism (ie reporting on the events, events, events etc.) Some energy is spent on analyses….YES…. but most of them are so biased as either pro-ZANU-PF or anti-ZANU-PF and the analysts move as parallel lines that never meet even if they were projected for a billion kilometers.
The questions that never seem to be exhaustively researched would be questions like:
1. Why do the top leadership of ZANU-PF “rally around” Cde R G Mugabe regardless of the progressive deterioration of the country’s well-being?
2. Why do they seem unconcerned that the man who is leading their Political Formation is very well past “Retirement Age”….by any standards?
3. Also is it really and completely correct that Cde R G Mugabe is a Dictator?
What is the definition of a “Dictator” and does Cde Mugabe fit that definition?
I would like therefore to observe that a lot of emotion is “emitted” when Mugabe and/or ZANU-PF is mentioned and rational thinking is usually unfortunately thrown out through the window!
It is very important that one notes that the Political Party we know as ZANU-PF today “evolved” from a myriad of other Organizations from the 1950s. It is not necessary to enumerate them all except to emphasize that as these Organizations were banned and new ones were formed, those that moved from the old Formations to the new ones gained more and more experience in the “art” of Politics due to the various experiences that they went through.
So Cde R G Mugabe had been at the “game” of Politics for over 50 years and to him the game has a plot and a set of unwritten rules.
You may not really like Mr Mugabe for various reasons that you may (perhaps) eloquently enumerate, but you would be completely mistaken if you assumed that you may by-pass him in Zim Politics today for as long as he is still alive and in charge of his faculties.
SO LETS TRY AND STUDY THE MANNER IN WHICH THE MAN INFLUENCES AND INDEED CONTROLS THE DIRECTION WHICH THE POLITICAL PARTY HE HAS LED FOR OVER 40 YEARS AND SUBSEQUENTLY THE COUNTRY WHICH THAT POLITICAL GOVERNS (LEGITIMATELY OR ILLEGITIMATELY!)
